Course content
* Developmental psychological basics of Montessori education
* Anthropological basic ideas of Montessori pedagogy
* Theoretical and practical foundations of Montessori education
– The role of the teacher
– The prepared environment
– Montessori materials
* Possible applications of the Montessori principles in the classroom
(Orientation framework, competence-oriented teaching, Lehrplan 21, etc.)

Course participants
The workshop is aimed at pedagogical teaching staff of daycare centers, kindergartens and primary schools (1st-3rd grade) who would like to learn the basics of Montessori education.

The workshop is held by István Szurkos
István Szurkos continued his pedagogical studies here after moving to Switzerland from Hungary in 2009. In addition to the university trainings – among others the teaching diploma for preschool and primary level at the PH Bern as well as the Master in Early Childhood Studies at the Universities of Teacher Education St. Gallen and Weingarten – he completed the AMI 3-6 and 6-12 trainings. In between, he worked at various Montessori kindergartens and schools. Currently, he teaches in a children’s home in Bern and is working on his doctoral thesis on “Montessori and Gender”.
